Our outdoor skydiving location near Bozeman, MT is one of the best places to skydive in the U.S. We’re located at 1680 3 Forks Airport Rd, Three Forks, MT—just a 30 minute drive from downtown Bozeman—and we offer a skydiving experience that’s both convenient and unforgettable.

First-time jumpers are especially welcome, since we offer tandem skydiving that you can enjoy with minimal preparation and training. Here’s what you should know about outdoor skydiving at our Bozeman, MT facility:

Tandem skydiving is an amazing way for first time jumpers to experience the thrill and freedom of free fall. It exposes first-time jumpers to the skydiving adventure with minimal expectations from the student.
You are physically attached to your instructor and your parachute at 4 points by a harness and connectors built to FAA TSO specifications. Because of the tandem harness set up, you will need only a brief amount of training before making your first skydive.
Just like learning to drive a car, or fly an airplane, dual instruction (tandem) is the best way to experience your first skydive, being able to communicate with your instructor during your experience.

I’m originally from the great state of Ohio. I received my bachelor’s from Bowling Green State University in Aviation and recently my MBA from Boise State University. I’ve been flying for the past seven years and I’m excited to be flying some awesome people for DZONE®. When I am not flying jumpers - I’m paragliding, climbing, swimming, or reading.

Mathew Bartlett

I started jumping as a paratrooper, and am currently focused on wingsuiting and rigging this season. I have a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work and a BA in History from the University of Montana. I am also a member of the Osprey Sport Parachute club.

Michael Missroon

I started skydiving the summer of 2010 after making a tandem skydive in Central Illinois. Since then, I have jumped at over 40 drop zones completing 2,650+ skydives. My passion in skydiving includes parachute formations, wingsuit formations, and teaching newcomers to the sport to become licensed. I have also completed over 1,400 tandem skydives, helping to inspire others to become licensed skydivers.

Sam Schultz is the name, speed and gas burning are the game. My whole family are engineers so I had to break the mold and do something else. So here I am a pilot at large. Growing up in Montana on the ground has been quite the pleasure. When we take to the air it gives a whole new Perspective of the Big Sky.

I have been skydiving since 2002. I have over 4,000 jumps and hold the following ratings. TI, AFFI, Pro, Senior Rigger and S&TA. I am also a member of the Osprey Sport Parachute Club.

ON THE GROUND

Prior to your jump, there is a very brief process to go over the basics such as a short video regarding safety rules and then some basic paperwork. You will be introduced to one of our USPA certified instructors as part of this process. After a short briefing you and your instructor will “gear up” and head to the plane!

IN THE PLANE

The first part of the excitement is the plane ride up where you will get to enjoy a plane ride miles above the ground. Once you are at altitude the pilot will turn onto “jump run”. This means he will fly over the drop zone.

THE JUMP

When the door opens you are seconds away from the thrill of your life! You and your instructor will make your way to the open door, and with a “Ready… Set… GO!” you will exit the plane and begin experiencing what few have only dreamed of…FLYING YOUR BODY! You will experience the excitement and at the same time peacefulness of freefall!

UNDER CANOPY

Upon reaching the pre-determined altitude your instructor will pull a drogue-release handle and initiate the parachute opening sequence! Once under canopy (that’s what we call the parachute) you will peacefully fly through the breeze above our Bozeman DZONE®! This is a great moment that is captured on film when you purchase a media package, there’s nothing like the excitement and joy exhibited on a skydive!

LANDING

Contrary to some old school beliefs, landings are very smooth and easy because of the massive strides and advancements in parachute technology. The days of hard landings went away along with the old and out-dated round parachute back in the 70’s. All DZONE® “rigs” (parachute packs) include two modern parachutes, a main and a reserve, both built using the same Ram Air technology as in paragliding. This is all part of what allows for safe, and fun landings! DZONE® Skydiving uses current and state of the art technology for all of their gear and not just some. Your enjoyment and safety are paramount to us!
